On September 29, students in Ms. Chen’s DP Chinese classes attended the Confucius Institute Day and Mid-Autumn Celebration at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT.

The theme of MLC’s posters this year was “My Eyes on China,” and students focused on the cuisine, holidays, arts, music and entertainment, and fashion of contemporary and Tang dynasty China. Throughout the morning, our students presented their posters and answered questions that were posed to them by attendees. They joined students from other local high schools, such as Avon, Simsbury, Miss Porter’s School, the Gilbert School, West Hartford, and East Hartford.

In the afternoon, they experienced the professional performances from Zhejiang University of China, and ended their day with a campus tour that was planned by the Confucius Institute.

The Associate Director of the Confucius Institute, Zongxiang Mei, congratulated the MLC students on their presentations: “We [we]re very impressed by your students’ poster presentations. They [we]re the best! They showcased their project-based learning to over 500 Chinese learners from other schools and CCSU students.”  We are so proud of our Chinese language learners at MLC!
