We have a School-Based Health Center at the Metropolitan Learnin Center. The clinic is staffed by a school nurse, Dawn Carter (RN), and a nurse practitioner, Susan DeGennaro (APRN), who work collaboratively with the CREC Medical Director. Chyane Colon also works as an office asistant in the clinic. The school nurse will provide routine care and first aid to all students and the nurse practitioner will be responsible for the following services:
- Physical examinations for school or sports
- Immunizations
- Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses
- Management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma and allergies
- Diagnosis of injuries
- Health promotion/education
- Nutrition and weight management
- Counseling services including individual & family therapy, crisis intervention, parent guidance, parent guidance, and behavioral problems
